Chris Brown
INTERNATIONAL UMPIRE
In this episode of the show, we welcome current international umpire and former Auckland, Cook Islands and East Coast Bays seamer, Chris Brown.
Recorded before the start of the New Zealand's home summer, we talk umpiring logistics, the pathway to the top, what it feels like to get your decisions proved right - and wrong! - home vs neutral umpires, not giving Lippy any LBWs and how Chris wishes he'd donned the white coat as soon as his playing days were over.
Since the interview, Chris has made his Test debut (Blackcaps v West Indies, followed by another Test - Blackcaps/Pakistan) and has shone brightly under the spotlight, making some outstanding decisions at that level. We hope you enjoy the chat, and if you have any interest in becoming an umpire yourself, contact your local cricket club or association and, as Chris suggests, 'give it a go'.
